If your current landlord knows you’re moving and you have given a proper notice to quit, then your new landlord can assume that when you move out of their apartment you will treat them with the same common courtesy. If you answer “No”, they do not know I am moving, then you have just sent the message that it will probably be two more months before you can move into their apartment.

if you tell the new landlord “no, it is not okay to call my current landlord yet”, then that is a pretty good indicator that when you move out of their new apartment you will probably repeat the same behavior. That’s not really the best way to do business with the new landlord or create a good first impression.

Any landlord is also required to give you a proper written notice to quit. They will at least expect you to give them a proper written notice to quit when you leave their apartment.
